MiiR x black girl ventures
The goal for this project was to create three unique designs across three product silhouettes that would resonate with the BGV audience. We wanted to create something that their audience would not only use on a regular basis, but would also serve as a reminder and encouragement for them to continue pursuing their entrepreneurial goals.
The designs represent a window into the life of an entrepreneur and the different traits that it takes to be successful: Resilience & Strength, Joyful Defiance, and Solidarity & Empowerment.
The windows in the photography direction echo the size of the product silhouettes and the windows in designs.
Founded in 2016 by Omi Bell, The Black Girl Ventures Foundation (BGV) addresses the unique challenges Black/Brown women face in accessing social and financial capital to grow their businesses.
Black Girl Ventures’ mission is to provide Black/Brown woman-identifying founders with access to community, capital, and capacity building in order to meet business milestones that lead to economic advancement through entrepreneurship.

Resilience and strength drive successful entrepreneurs day after day. Obstacles and naysayers always fight to block the path and lead you back towards the status quo. But the fire in your eyes fuels you to keep going, to keep burning down what no longer works. Smiles and good times aren’t what show you your inner flame, it’s showing up through the tears and frustration and continuing forward anyway.

Corporate America promises a narrow view of success. There are always objectives to fulfill, hardships to conquer, and goals that always feel impossible so that the few at the top can remain there. So we create our way in joyful defiance. We cultivate our beauty to break through the cracks in the status quo and create something that others can’t help but notice. In the words of Tupac, “Long live the rose that grew from concrete / when no one else ever cared.”

Strength, resilience, and joyful defiance are the inner flame for our drive to push forward. But it’s our communities that extend our capacity to thrive. Solidarity and empowerment. We need others to see what we cannot and let their light and energy radiate through us to extend beyond us. And when our dreams become our reality, it’s up to us to extend a hand in return.
